New Alumni Portrait Sustainable Development Management, M.A.
Our alumna Sumya Sydunnaher graduated with her master degree in Sustainable Development Management in 2021. Currently, as a project officer at Community Reconstruction Center (CRC), she is working for a “Sanitation Behaviour Change Project” funded by the Japan Association of Drainage and Environment (JADE), in Khulna, Bangladesh. Despite facing the hardship of studying during the global pandemic, she also describes the program as a diverse space with an exceptional academic atmosphere.
First Creative Writing Walk through the Kleve e.V. zoo
On July 9th, a summery Saturday evening, the first story walk took place in the Kleve Zoo: Numerous curious listeners had gathered in front of the entrance gate to listen to students from the Creative Writing Workshop at the Faculty of Society and Economics. Led by the lecturer for Creative Writing, Renate Schmitz-Gebel, the group moved through the Tiergarten. Again and again, they stopped to read in front of individual enclosures. Then students Fiona Kahlau, Anna-Lisa Adam, Anna-Vanessa Bokarev and Modei Blank presented their texts.
For the second time, the International Relations study program, together with various partners from civil society, welcomed the musicians of Grupo Sal to Kleve. After a discussion with the activist Patricia Gualinga in Jakob Lempp's seminars, the university opened its doors in the evening for the collage of Latin American live music, mixed with a live interview with Patricia Gualinga from Ecuador.
This year's Nairobi-Kleve Model African Union (NKMAU) took place from 22 to 25 June 2022. In addition to the International Relations, B.A. students from Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, students from Riara University in the same subject were also involved. Online, all students participated in the very active debate on the issues of health and food security.
On June 29, 2022, the summer festival of the Faculty of Society and Economics took place in the KLEX garden. Professors and employees together with their family members enjoyed a sunny summer evening with a varied salad buffet, grilled food and ice cream pralines. Lecturers, academic and non-academic employees and family members met in person for the first time and used the festival to get to know each other.

In der Industrie werden in Maschinen technische Fertigungsprozesse oft über elektronische Steuerungssysteme, sogenannte SPS-Systeme, geregelt. Aber wie baut man diese Systeme und wo werden sie in der Industrie eingesetzt? Neben diesen Fragen klärt der Kurs „Bau einer SPS-Steuerungsanlage“ auch, welche Anforderungen an Auszubildende gestellt werden, die sich für den Beruf Mechatroniker*in oder Elektrotechniker*in interessieren. Während des Praxisteils in der Kisters-Stiftung können die Schüler*innen selbständig eine SPS-Steuerung entwerfen und bauen.

Im Rahmen der „Offenen Gärten im Kleverland“, lädt das Team des Tropenhauses an der Hochschule Rhein-Waal am Sonntag, dem 16. Oktober 2022 von 11 bis 16 Uhr seine Besucher*innen zu einem abwechslungsreichen Rundgang ein – zu Begehung und Begegnung mit allen Sinnen.
