Learning Places

The library is a public learning space and can be used by anyone during opening hours without prior registration – whether you need a quiet place to work or wish to browse our printed materials on site. Just pop in!

If you wish to borrow our materials or items, use the library computers or make use of other services, you can get a free library card issued at the information desk.

The library is open during opening hours, so the study spaces, resources and equipment are available to you. As it is much quieter during the lecture-free period, the library has shorter opening hours at that time.

During full service hours, trained staff are on hand to answer your questions or help with any personal enquiries regarding the use of the library. Please do not hesitate to contact us at the information desk. We’re here to help!

Outside full service hours, the information desk is usually staffed by student assistants who can help you with questions regarding the library use. Please bear in mind that our student assistants are unable to assist you with more complex problems or requests.

On Sundays, the entire campus, including all university buildings, is closed. This means that security services and emergency management are not on site and cannot be guaranteed. Opening on Sundays would also incur extra costs for staff, as well as additional energy and operating costs. Furthermore, the library team lacks the necessary staffing resources. For this reason, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences’ strategy prioritises investment in longer opening hours during the week.

Alternatively, students and staff at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences can make use of the services offered by the University Library at Radboud University in Nijmegen (Netherlands) free of charge. The main library there is also open on Sundays. Further information
