The Federal Ministry of Education and Research’s Career Advancement Scholarship supports committed professionals with vocational training and practical experience in undertaking their first academic degree programme. The SBB Foundation for the Promotion of Gifted Students in Vocational Education and Training selects scholarship recipients by delegated authority from the BMBF and supports them throughout their studies. Up to 1,000 scholarships are awarded each year.

One of the requirements for applying for this funding is that applicants must have completed vocational training or advanced vocational training, as well as having at least two years’ professional experience (gained after completing their training and before starting their degree) at the time of submitting their online application. Furthermore, applicants must not already hold a university degree.

Applications can be submitted before the start of your studies and up until the end of the second semester.

Students who are EU citizens may apply for funding from the German National Academic Foundation. Full details of further eligibility criteria, exemptions, and the selection and application procedures can be found here. If you are interested in a scholarship from the Studienstiftung, please contact Professor Dr Achim Kehrein by email.

This foundation helps eligible students from the Kleve district to finance their studies by providing interest-free loans. The financial support currently amounts to 600 euros per semester. The repayments are channelled in full back into the foundation’s assets. To date, more than 440 students have received support totalling around 600,000 euros. Applications from students who come from the Kleve district should be sent to the District Administrator of the Kleve district. Further information on the study fund can be found here.
