There are several good reasons to apply for a Deutschlandstipendium. On the one hand, scholarship holders receive financial support of €300 per month; on the other hand, the non-monetary support, direct contact with the sponsors and the annual scholarship dinner offer a great opportunity to build strong networks for your future.
The scholarship is merit-based, but social engagement and the overcoming of personal challenges are also taken into account in the selection process. To apply for funding for the 2026/2027 academic year, you can submit your application via the application platform between 1 May 2026 and 31 May 2026. The Deutschlandstipendium funding period at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences begins on 1 October each year. Please note that only complete applications submitted within the application deadline will be accepted.

Anyone can become a sponsor: individuals, associations, foundations or companies. By providing a full scholarship, you will support a scholarship holder for one year with €150 per month, totalling €1,800. The government will match this amount, bringing the total to €300 per month for one year. Your contributions are, of course, tax-deductible.
If you would like to donate a smaller amount, that is also possible. Donations are added together, and whenever we reach €1,800, we can apply for another scholarship! The minimum amount is €20. Please always state the reference ‘Spende Deutschlandstipendium’ when making your transfer.
The Deutschlandstipendium is awarded to students and first-year undergraduates who demonstrate excellent academic performance or are expected to do so based on their CV. Achievements outside of studies, social engagement or academic difficulties are taken into account during the selection process. The selection process is handled directly by the university. We are happy to take your preference for a scholarship in a specific subject area into account where possible.
Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences organises a supporting programme of company visits and workshops for scholarship recipients. In cooperation with the university’s support associations, it organises an annual scholarship dinner, where scholarship providers (sponsors who award at least one full scholarship or major donors), university management and scholarship recipients come together in a friendly atmosphere.
