The SBV’s responsibilities

Promoting inclusion
We are actively committed to creating a working environment in which people with disabilities can work on an equal footing. The aim is to foster a university culture in which diversity is valued and no one is disadvantaged on the grounds of a disability.

Ensuring participation in the workplace
The SBV provides support in designing workplaces that meet individual needs. This includes, for example, providing technical aids or flexible working hours.

Ensuring accessibility
An accessible workplace is a fundamental prerequisite for participation. We ensure that physical, digital and organisational barriers are identified and removed.

Involvement in HR measures
The SBV must be involved at an early stage in HR measures, such as recruitment, transfers or dismissals. We support these processes in a solution-oriented manner and in the best interests of those affected.

Monitoring of statutory regulations
We ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, in particular the Social Code Book IX (SGB IX), which governs the rights of colleagues with severe disabilities in the workplace.

Cooperation with committees and external bodies
As the SBV, we work closely with the staff councils, the Equality Office, the relevant department, Inclusion Officers and external partners such as the Integration Office or the Job Centre. This cooperation enables us to provide comprehensive support. In this way, we ensure that the interests of employees with severe disabilities are taken into account in all important decisions.

We’re here for you
– working together for a fair and supportive working environment!

Whether you have questions about employment, face problems in your day-to-day work, or need to apply for measures to compensate for disadvantages – the SBV is here to offer you advice and practical support.

Confidentially, competently and with dedication.
