Master's degrees

Have you completed your bachelor’s degree in Germany, are you planning to do a master’s degree, and would you like to find out more about the application and admission process? On this page, you’ll find key information on entry requirements and application documents for master’s programmes. Whether you’re still exploring your options or already preparing your application, you’ll find the essential information and helpful tips here to ensure your transition to a master’s degree gets off to the smoothest possible start.

You can apply for our Master’s programmes for both the Summer semester and the Winter semester.

Once your application has been successful, you will be given an application number. Please quote this number in all further correspondence with the university. 

For your application, you will need the following documents as scans:

  • your Bachelor’s degree certificate
  • If your Bachelor’s degree certificate is not yet available: a current Transcript of Records showing the credit points you have earned so far
  • your current grade point average
  • Proof of your language proficiency (see Admission requirements)
  • Any additional evidence, e.g. regarding a work placement or a Semester abroad, or regarding the aptitude assessment

Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences reserves the right to request original documents at a later date.

Further entry requirements:

For the Biological Resources, M.Sc. programme, you must provide evidence of 20 weeks’ relevant professional experience or a semester spent studying abroad.

If you wish to apply for the Design and Interaction, M.A., programme, you must also pass an artistic and design aptitude test. You can find further information here.

If you have obtained your first professional degree outside the European Higher Education Area, you must submit additional supporting documents for certain degree programmes:

Bionics, M.Sc., and Mechanical Engineering, M.Sc.
A TestAS certificate relevant to the degree programme (minimum 100 points) or, alternatively, a Graduate Aptitude Test (GATE) with a score of at least 80 per cent or a Graduate Record Examination (GRE) with a score of at least 60 per cent.

Information Engineering and Computer Science, M.Sc.
A TestAS certificate relevant to the degree programme (minimum 100 points) or, alternatively, a Graduate Aptitude Test (GATE) or a Graduate Record Examination (GRE; Q = 160, V = 145, A = 4.5).
