Successfully completing a degree whilst raising a child is not easy. But: you are not on your own! 

We are happy to advise you and offer targeted support on these topics:

Come and see us during our opening hours at the Study Advisory Service or book a personal appointment. We offer a range of services to help you overcome the particular challenges of studying whilst raising a child.


Parent-and-Child Room

The two parent-and-child rooms in Kleve (Room 17, Ground Floor 004) and Kamp-Lintfort (Room 04 01 325) are available free of charge to all members of the university community. The rooms are equipped with a computer workstation, a cot, a sofa and a play area. If you wish to use a parent-and-child room, book your preferred time slot and open the room using your transponder.

Booking and Transponder Access Employees

  • Staff can book the rooms themselves via Outlook.
  • Alternatively, you can book the room via the Central Equality Office or the Faculty Equal Opportunities Officers.
  • Ask Campus Security or the Service Point to set up access rights for the room on your personal transponder.
  • You can also borrow a transponder from the lending points listed below on the day of your appointment.

Booking and Transponder Access Students

  • Students can have the room booked on their behalf via the central equality officer, the Equality Office or the Faculty Equal Opportunities Officers in their respective faculties.
  • Once the booking has been made, you can borrow the transponder on the day of your appointment from the offices listed below.

Loan desks in Kleve:

  • Campus Security (Building 04, ground floor)
  • Dean’s Office, Faculty of Life Sciences (12 01 006)
  • Dean’s Office, Faculty of Society and Economics (02 01 008)

Loan desks in Kamp-Lintfort:

  • Library (Building 01, first floor)
  • Student Service Point (02, ground floor, room 505)

Please return the transponder in person to the lending point after use.

Guests may use the parent-and-child room by prior arrangement with the Equality Office.

Other offers

Private study rooms in the library

At both campuses, the libraries have private study rooms available, which student parents can book at the information desk or by email (even at short notice). In Kleve, there is also a dedicated parent-and-child room on the 5th floor (18 05 13).

Changing facilities

On the Kleve campus, you’ll find baby-changing facilities in the following rooms (building / floor / room):

  • 01 Ground Floor 021 (Audimax)
  • 03 Ground Floor 015 (gender-neutral toilet, accessible toilet)
  • 16th floor, room 011 (canteen)
  • 18th floor, room 012 (Knowledge Centre)

On the Kamp-Lintfort campus, you’ll find baby-changing facilities in:

  • 01 01 026 (Lecture Theatre Centre)
  • Ground Floor 036 (Faculty Building)
