If you have forgotten your password, the IT Service will be able to help you and issue you with a new one. You can obtain course passwords for Moodle directly from your lecturers, usually during the first session or by email.
You can find your current timetable on Moodle in your faculty’s section. It is also often displayed in your faculty’s buildings. If anything is unclear or you cannot find your timetable, you can contact your faculty’s administration office at any time.
Log in to HIS portal and go to the ‘Student Services’ → ‘Contact details’ section. There, you can update your address and specify which address should be used as your semester address. Please ensure that your details are always up to date.
Students at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences can have their name and gender entry changed in the databases managed by the university. There are currently four options for recording gender: male, female, diverse, not specified.
In general, students are advised to obtain the ‘supplementary ID card’ issued by the German Society for Transidentity and Intersexuality (DGTI) so that they can explain the discrepancy between their identity card and their student documents. This contains the preferred name and gender, as well as the number of the current identity card.
Before submitting an informal application, students have the option of seeking personal advice from the Central Student Advisory Service. The application must, at a minimum, include a statement in which the applicant unequivocally declares that they accept responsibility for any potential legal consequences and risks arising from the requested change. Furthermore, the application must be signed by the applicant in their own hand and sent to Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Student Services Department, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, 47533 Kleve. An informal email is not sufficient.

If a basic work placement is required for your degree programme, you will not be able to re-enrol for the 4th academic semester without having completed this placement. Without proof of this, you will be unable to re-enrol or register for examinations. If you are unsure, it is best to contact your faculty office as soon as possible.
The Centre for Internationalisation and Languages (ZIS) is your first point of contact for any questions aboutstudying abroad for a semster semester. During consultation hours, you can get information on partner universities, application procedures and funding opportunities.
Make sure you find out well in advance about the admission requirements and objectives set out in Section 21 of the Framework Examination Regulations. You will also need a supervising professor – please enquire about this at your faculty.

Yes, even during a semester abroad or a work placement semester, you must re-enrol by the deadline. However, you can be exempted from the ‘Deutschlandsemesterticket’ fee if you submit an application in good time. It is important that your semester abroad or work placement has been officially approved in advance. Only then is an exemption possible.
A leave of absence may only be granted for good cause. You can find out which reasons are recognised in the Enrolment Regulations (§ 9). Please complete the application form in full and send it by the deadline, together with the relevant supporting documents, by email to Student Services.
Your curriculum is part of your degree programme’s examination regulations and is usually found at the end of the document. You can view the examination regulations online.
Download the application form for deregistration from the Student Services website, complete it in full and submit it by email. Please read all the instructions carefully in advance to avoid any delays. Important: Retrospective deregistration is not possible.
Send an email to Student Services stating your student number and your degree programme. You can then easily download the certificate from the HIS portal as soon as you have received a reply from Student Services.
You can find all the important information regarding the semester fee, such as the payment deadline and bank details, in the re-enrolment instructions that you will receive by email, as well as on the university’s Student Services page. Please ensure you meet the deadlines.
You can get a refund of your termly fee if you deregister before lectures begin or withdraw from your degree programme in good time. Important: Deregistration before lectures begin only applies if you completed your degree programme in the previous term. If you have already sat any exams in the new semester, a refund is no longer possible. You can also apply for a refund at any time if you have overpaid by completing and submitting the relevant form. You can find this on the Student Services website.
If you deregister during the course of the semester, you will only receive a pro-rata refund of the fee for the Deutschlandsemesterticket for the months that have not yet begun. All other parts of the fee are non-refundable.
Not all students receive the ticket automatically; this includes, for example, guest students and those on part-time degree programmes. Under certain conditions, you may be exempted from the fee – you can find details in the relevant application form on the Student Services website. Whilst on a leave of absence, you can decide for yourself whether you wish to use the ticket. Upon de-registration, your ticket expires automatically, and any fees for months not yet used will be refunded on a pro rata basis. If you have any further questions, either the NIAG Customer Centre or the AStA are good places to turn to.
