Sustainability

Sustainability is an integral part of everyday life at our university. Whether on campus, in teaching, research or knowledge transfer: together, we are actively shaping this sustainable transformation.

Sustainability at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences

As a university, we bear a special social responsibility. After all, through our teaching, research and knowledge transfer, we pass on knowledge, foster new ideas and empower people to play an active role in shaping change. In this way, we make an important contribution to tackling current and future challenges. Sustainable development is one of the most pressing tasks of our time.

The expertise, practical relevance, application-oriented approach and international outlook of our university together form the basis for an effective sustainability transformation. Against this backdrop, the university has enshrined the strategic goal of sustainability transformation in its University Development Plan 2030. At the same time, the United Nations’ 17 SDGs provide us with guidance for our actions and our further development. This is because they highlight global challenges and demonstrate the diversity of sustainable development.

The next step is to bring this vision to life. To this end, we are developing a sustainability strategy that provides guidance whilst also creating the framework for our university’s sustainability transformation. This is intended to embed sustainability in all areas in the long term and enable concrete changes.

Sustainability together – at our university, sustainability has long been more than just a strategic goal. Rather, it is evident in the wide range of projects, research and initiatives taking place on our campus. Students, lecturers and staff develop ideas, explore new approaches and implement specific projects.
