Staff Council for Academic and Artistic Staff

The Academic Staff Council represents the interests of academic and artistic staff at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences.

A welcome from the Staff Council for academic and artistic staff:

The Staff Council is a statutory body within every public sector employer, just as the works council is in the private sector. It is required to “cooperate in a spirit of trust with the relevant authority (in our case, the President) to fulfil official duties and for the benefit of staff, within the framework of the law and collective agreements” [Section 2(1) of the State Staff Representation Act (LPVG)].

The Staff Council for Academic and Artistic Staff represents

  • academic and artistic staff
  • Lecturers for Special Tasks
  • Sessional Lecturers with a teaching load of 4 hours per week or more
  • Academic support staff

The staff council’s responsibilities include the following:

  • Representing the interests of staff
  • Mediating between managers or departments and staff
  • Advice and support for employees (pay grading, promotion, contract amendments, dismissal, disputes, etc.)
  • Support in implementing health and safety at work and good working conditions
