First steps following the nomination

Have you been nominated by your home university to spend a semester abroad at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences?

Here you will find all the important information about the next steps – from the application process and organisational preparations to the start of your studies with us.

After the nomination: What happens next

Once we have received your nomination, we will contact you by email. You will receive all the important information regarding the rest of the application process and the next steps.

Please note:
You do not need to apply yourself before we contact you.

Application and supporting documents

Once you have been nominated, you will submit your application via our MoveOn portal. As part of the application process, you will be asked to provide a number of documents.

These usually include:

  • Transcript of Records
  • Identity document
  • Learning Agreement
  • Proof of your language skills

We will inform you of the exact requirements and the relevant deadlines in good time by email.

Language skills

Adequate language skills are required to successfully complete a degree at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences.

  • Bachelor’s degree programmes: at least level B2
  • Master’s programmes: minimum level C1

Many degree programmes at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences are taught entirely in English. We accept all standard and recognised language certificates; alternatively, you may submit an official confirmation of your language level from your home university.

Preparing for your stay

To ensure you’re well prepared for your time at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, we recommend that you start looking into a few organisational matters well in advance.

These include, for example:

  • Selecting suitable courses and finalising your Learning Agreement
  • Arranging your accommodation in Kleve or Kamp-Lintfort
  • Planning your journey to Germany
  • Financial preparations (tuition fees and living costs)

Starting your studies and orientation

At the start of the semester, we offer a range of orientation and welcome activities designed to help you get off to a good start and find your way around campus quickly.

These include, amongst others:

  • Introductory events to mark the start of your studies 
  • Freshers’ Day or Freshers’ Week
  • Taking part in the buddy programme
  • Support services for international students
  • Opportunities to get to know other exchange students
