At a glance
University life differs from school in many ways. Students organise their daily study routine largely independently and take on a great deal of responsibility for their own learning. Coursework such as lectures, seminars or projects is supplemented by periods of independent study.
The first degree is usually a Bachelor’s, which typically takes six to seven semesters. This can be followed by a Master’s degree.
The path to university involves several steps:
- Exploring degree programmes and clarifying your interests
- Checking entry requirements
- Applying for a place
- Admission and enrolment at the university
Students can make use of various advisory and support services offered by the university during their studies. These include, for example:
- Academic advising
- Study Guidance/subject-specific advice within degree programmes
- Advice on personal or organisational matters
These services help students to successfully manage their studies.
On the pages for prospective students, you will find detailed information on degree programmes, applications and the organisation of studies. If you have any questions, you can also contact the university’s Study Advisory Service.
