To register, please speak to the library staff at the information desk. You will usually be issued with your library card on the spot and can use it straight away to borrow items.
Please ensure you provide the library with your current valid postal address in Germany. When collecting your library card, you must present a valid original photo ID for identification purposes. By signing the library card, you agree to the library’s terms of use and data protection policy.
Your personal library card is non-transferable. Please do not pass it on to third parties, as you will be liable for any irregularities. You are welcome to use the digital library card via the “HSRW Campus” app, which you can download free of charge from the App Stores for iOS and Android.
All other users
External users can register at the library during service hours.
The library card is valid for 12 months. You can renew your card in person at the library information desk. Please note that the expiry date may affect the loan period for borrowed books. Please contact us in good time if this causes you any problems.
Due to licensing conditions, you can only access the library’s electronic resources within the university network. To use e-resources and your library account, you must log in to a library computer once, at the earliest on the day after registration. Find out more
Please inform library staff immediately of any changes to your personal details.
If your library card is lost or damaged, you can obtain a replacement card at the information desk during service hours. This costs €10.
If you cannot find your library card, please contact the library staff immediately. We will then block your library account straight away to protect you from unauthorised use of the card by third parties.
There are numerous other University Libraries in North Rhine-Westphalia whose services you can use for your studies. Registration for library use is usually free of charge for students at state universities in North Rhine-Westphalia. You can find more details on the website of the respective University Library.
In addition, students and staff at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences can use the services of the University Library at Radboud University in Nijmegen (Netherlands) free of charge. Note: The main library is also open on Sundays. Further information
