Workplaces & Study areas

The library offers a wide range of individual workplaces, both with and without library computers, where you can read and study in peace. 

In Kamp-Lintfort, individual workplaces are located in the reading room at the back of the library. You can use individual workplaces equipped with library computers in the individual study rooms. 

In Kleve, you will find individual workplaces for quiet work in the reading rooms on the 3rd to 6th floors and in the individual study rooms on the 3rd and 5th floors. Desk partitions have been installed at the workplaces on the 6th floor; these are designed to enhance concentration and allow for undisturbed work thanks to their sound-absorbing and space-dividing properties. Computer workplaces are located on the ground floor and on the 6th floor.

We aim to provide a workplace for as many users as possible. We therefore ask you to clear your workplace if you need to take a longer break. When it's busy, library staff can clear abandoned workplaces if they remain unused for more than 15 minutes.

At both library locations, study rooms are available for open student work: in Kamp-Lintfort in room 01 02 220, in Kleve in room 18 EG 018 and in the reading room on the 2nd floor. 

The library’s main aim in providing these Collab Spaces is to create space for small study groups and to encourage collaboration amongst students. Feel free to use these rooms to study together, discuss course material and exchange ideas. Please make sure that the noise level is appropriate and close the door so that you do not disturb other users.

In Kleve, food and drink are allowed in the Collab Spaces on a trial basis.

Students at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences can book individual study rooms in the library for short periods ranging from 30 minutes to 6 hours, or for a full day. Weekly bookings (one week at a time) are reserved for students writing a final thesis. To do this, proof of the registered final thesis – the ‘Admission to the thesis’ – must be uploaded digitally. Please use our room booking tool anny to book a room. If no reservation has been made, individual study rooms are freely available.

With a weekly booking, you have the option of borrowing a key to lock and unlock the room yourself. With a key, you may leave your study materials in the room and lock it. Please treat the room with care. You will need a valid library card for this. Keys can be collected and returned at the information desk. Please note: Fees will be charged for late returns, loss or damage to a key.

Individual study rooms are made available to just one person for the duration of the booking. Eating and drinking is not permitted, with the exception of water in closed containers. If you use any media from the library’s collection, please return them afterwards to one of the book trolleys in the reading room.

Bookable group study rooms for up to 10 people in Kleve and up to 6 people in Kamp-Lintfort enable students at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences to work together undisturbed.

Booking is not required to use the group study rooms, but is recommended due to high demand. Priority is always given to those who can show a booking confirmation when using the group study rooms. Please note that Room 01 02 215 in Kamp-Lintfort is a parent-child room, and parents with children always have priority when using this room.

Group study rooms can be reserved via the online booking system. You can book a room for your group for short periods ranging from 30 minutes to 6 hours, or for a full day. You will be the contact person for the library and would be liable for any damage caused by members of your group.

If a room is reserved but no group is present, you can use the room until the group arrives. In consultation with each other on site, two small groups can also use one room, as long as the number of 10 people in Kleve and 6 people in Kamp-Lintfort is not exceeded.

Please treat the room with care! Eating and drinking is not permitted, with the exception of water in closed containers. If you use any media from the library’s collection during group work, please return them afterwards to one of the book trolleys in the reading room. The furniture in the group study room must not be rearranged or supplemented with other library furniture without the consent of the library staff.

Parents with children always take priority over other users here, even if the room has already been booked by someone else. That’s why we recommend that you always book other rooms first, if they’re still available.

Mobile toy boxes for children are available to university members on campus and may also be used in the parent-child rooms.

In our lounge on the ground floor of the Kleve Library, you can take a break from studying or relax with friends. Eating, drinking and using your mobile phone are allowed here. Please be considerate of other users and behave appropriately.

You’re also welcome to make use of our book crossing shelf, which you’ll find in the alcove of the lounge. Alongside flyers, magazines and books that the library has taken out of circulation – all available to take away for free – you’ll find books to swap in the bright yellow cube. This means that you can leave your well-read, well-preserved books here and/or take away books that interest you – provided by other readers – free of charge. By the way: there is also a book crossing shelf available at the Kamp-Lintfort Library; this is located on the left as you enter.
