Portraits of women in science

Michaela Schnappinger is studying Biomaterials Science at the Faculty of Technology and Bionics and, together with two fellow students, is leading the “Astro Day’n Night Path” project, which won an award in last year’s university competition. As part of the Year of Science 2023, she was featured alongside other women from the STEM fields on the Year of Science website; the link can be found here.

The team from Kleve, which developed the Astro Day’n Night Path, was one of 14 teams to receive a grant of 10,000 euros from the consortium comprising Wissenschaft im Dialog, the Federal Association for University Communication, the German Rectors’ Conference and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

The team is currently working on the practical implementation of the trail, which is intended to introduce interested walkers in Kleve to the starry sky and astronomy in future.
