Over 300 participants took part in the “Smart Green Island Makethon” on Gran Canaria, including two students from the Faculty of Technology and Bionics, Gloria Poloni and Kathrin Spieker, as well as students from the Faculty of Communication and the Environment.In their “Renzo-Box” workshop, they focused on developing a transport box for water meters that is not only reusable but also provides optimum protection for its contents during transport, whilst at the same time making all necessary information – such as the amount of space still available – digitally accessible.

Other teams tackled similar challenges in the fields of the circular economy, smart green technologies and robotics.
As well as the project itself, the two students from the faculty were particularly impressed by the inspiring atmosphere and the opportunity to exchange ideas with other students from 30 different countries.
Also present at the Makethon were Prof. Dr William Megill and Prof. Dr Karsten Nebe, who, as workshop leaders, guided the students in their search for creative solutions.
