We’ve done it! In January, 48 graduates from the Faculties of Life Sciences and Technology and Bionics celebrated the successful completion of their Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes together with family and friends.
In the packed Audimax, Prof. Dr William Megill and Prof. Dr Peter Simon welcomed the guests as hosts. President Dr Oliver Locker-Grütjen and the deans, Prof. Dr-Ing Dirk Nissing and Prof. Dr Peter Scholz, congratulated the graduates and, in their welcoming remarks, wished them all the best for the future. Lisa Waberg, coordinator of the alumni network, invited attendees to join the network with a short quiz, whilst Björn Flockau – who is responsible, amongst other things, for the university’s graduate survey – encouraged participation in the survey with an entertaining ‘Graduate Survey Slam’.
Musical entertainment was provided by the band Orange Green – named after the colours of the two faculties and comprising Prof. Dr Dirk Bockmühl, Prof. Dr Matthias Krauledat, Prof. Dr Niels Ostergaard and Prof. Dr Florian Wichern. “We’re a country band, but you rock!” they told the new graduates.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Joachim Gebel presented the 2022 VDI Awards to students from the Faculty of Technology and Bionics: to Carine Silva Allen for the best Bachelor’s thesis, to Anmol Singh for the best project work, and to Ausam Al-Hosseni for his social commitment. Managing Director Julia Nepicks presented the graduates’ prize from the Friends of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences e.V. to Asmaa Amraouza for her Bachelor’s thesis in the Mechatronic Systems Engineering degree programme. Dr Ralf Wimmer, Managing Director of the Lower Rhine Business Association, congratulated Alina Richter on achieving the best Bachelor’s degree in 2022 in the Quality, Environment, Safety and Hygiene programme.
Following the highlight of the ceremony – the presentation of certificates to all graduates – the graduates were able to raise a glass to their success together with their families, friends and guests at the champagne reception.
