2016 Graduation Ceremony at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences

Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 13 June 2016: “We are delighted to see so many successful graduates. We are confident that, having successfully completed their degrees, they are excellently qualified to embark on their careers. We wish them every success in their future endeavours,” says the university’s president, Dr Heide Naderer.

This year, the Friends’ Association of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, together with the Lower Rhine Business Association and ALTANA AG, awarded three prizes for outstanding achievements. Firstly, Anoshan Indreswaran, a student on the Bachelor’s programme in ‘Mechanical Engineering’ at the Faculty of Technology and Bionics, was honoured by the Förderverein Hochschule Rhein-Waal e.V. Marc-Andre Macziejek, a student on the ‘E-Government’ Bachelor’s programme in the Faculty of Communication and Environment, then received his prize from ALTANA AG. Finally, the Lower Rhine Entrepreneurs’ Association (Unternehmerschaft Niederrhein e.V.) recognised the achievements of student Julia Krämer from the ‘Quality, Environment, Safety and Hygiene’ programme in the Faculty of Life Sciences. All the prize-winners are distinguished by their outstanding academic achievements, having completed their studies within the standard duration, as well as their additional social or cultural involvement in various projects at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences. The sponsors congratulated the graduates on their degrees and presented them with prizes, each worth 1,500 euros.

Special thanks go to the Lower Rhine Business Association and ALTANA AG, who donated the prizes this year via the Friends’ Association, and to the numerous sponsors from the business community who are actively committed to the university’s successful development. “Talented young people with specialist expertise and innovative ideas are of particular importance to the regional economy. With their outstanding achievements, the award winners have demonstrated that they are well equipped for the start of their professional careers. We are therefore delighted to be able to support them with our sponsorship awards,” said Stefan Finke, Managing Director of the Förderverein Hochschule Rhein-Waal e.V.

For the first time, Katjes Fassin GmbH & Co. KG presented the Katjes Prize, worth 1,000 euros. All final-year dissertations from the Faculty of Society and Economics from the previous year that received a ‘very good’ grade are eligible for nomination. The prize winners are selected jointly by the university and the company. The best thesis is chosen based on the following criteria: the practical relevance of the topic, the innovativeness of the approach, the feasibility of the results and the academic rigour.

The first Katjes Prize was awarded to Johanna Hachmann from the ‘Gender and Diversity’ Bachelor’s programme. The prize was presented by Reinhard Sanders and Jürgen Kucken from Katjes Fassin GmbH & Co. KG.

Special thanks are also due to the Campus Kamp-Lintfort Support Association, the Support Association of the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences in the District of Wesel e.V., which honoured a total of eleven students with prizes for the best graduates from each degree programme within the Faculty of Communication and Environment in Kamp-Lintfort. The Friends’ Association presented the prizes, each worth 200 euros, to: Marvin Becker from the Bachelor’s programme in ‘Media and Communication Informatics’, Henrik Mucha from the Master’s programme in ‘Usability Engineering’, Svenja Leßmann from the Bachelor’s programme in ‘Mobility and Logistics’, Christina Mayer, Lena Lemm and Cosima Koßmann from the Bachelor’s programme in ‘Psychology (Work and Organisational Psychology)’, Anja Wilken from the ‘Environment and Energy’ Bachelor’s programme, Alix Hopfengärtner-Vigneault from the ‘Information and Communication Design’ Bachelor’s programme, Marie Ellen Roosen from the Bachelor’s programme in ‘International Business and Social Sciences’, Carola Schatz from the Master’s programme in ‘International Management and Psychology’, and Patrick Dehnel from the Bachelor’s programme in ‘E-Government’.

In addition, the faculties at the Kleve campus honoured their top Bachelor’s and Master’s graduates:

In the Faculty of Technology and Bionics, Fabrice Kirsch from the Bachelor’s programme in ‘Industrial Engineering’ and Christian Meurer from the Master’s programme in ‘Bionics/Biomimetics’ were honoured.

The most successful graduates from the Faculty of Life Sciences are Almut Hummel from the Master’s programme in ‘Food Sciences’ and Anika Hoebink from the Bachelor’s programme in ‘Quality, Environment, Safety and Hygiene’.

The Faculty of Society and Economics honours Huynh Bich Ngan Le from the ‘Economics and Finance’ Master’s programme and Anna-Sophia Pillen from the ‘Early Years Education’ Bachelor’s programme.
