They’ve done it! In mid-June, 70 graduates from the Faculties of Technology and Bionics and Life Sciences celebrated the completion of their studies together with their families and friends. In the university’s well-attended main lecture theatre, they received their certificates and best wishes for their future. .
Around 250 guests had gathered in Kleve’s largest lecture theatre on Friday afternoon to celebrate the successful graduates.
Prof. Dr Peter Simon (left) from the Faculty of Life Sciences and Prof. Dr William Megill from the Faculty of Technology and Bionics hosted the afternoon’s proceedings. Speaking in both languages, they reminded the graduates of the tough maths and chemistry exams and the challenges posed by the pandemic during their studies.
The Vice-President for International Affairs and Diversity, Prof. Dr Tatiana Zimenkova, congratulated the graduates on their bachelor’s and master’s degrees on behalf of the University Executive Board.
The deans of the faculties, Prof. Dr Peter Scholz (Life Sciences, left) and Prof. Dr-Ing Dirk Nissing (Technology and Bionics), offered the graduates their best wishes for the future and asked them to stay in touch with the university and their lecturers.
The Chair of the Friends of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences e.V., Julia Nepicks (right), presented Quy-Tung Tran (second from right) with the award for the best degree in the Faculty of Technology and Bionics; Dr Ralf Wimmer (left), Managing Director of the Lower Rhine Business Association, honoured Sarah Lea Janzen (second from left) for the best Master’s degree in the Health Sciences and Management programme.
The graduation ceremony was accompanied by music from the two faculties’ band ‘Orange Green’, featuring (from left to right) Prof. Dr Matthias Krauledat, Verena Krauledat, Karsten Schacky, Prof. Dr Florian Wichern and Prof. Dr Dirk Bockmühl.
Ali Ayan from the university’s alumni network provided information about the network and its services through a quiz and invited attendees to become members. In a presentation modelled on a science slam, Björn Flockau encouraged the graduates to take part in the graduate survey and thus contribute to improving the university.
