HSRW Submarine Team’s submarine race on the Spoy Canal on Saturday, 2 September 2017, from 2 pm

On Saturday, 2 September 2017, from 2 pm, the crew of the university submarine “Rivershark II” will compete against two teams from the Dutch TU Delft on the Spoy Canal at the Kleve campus. All submarine fans from Kleve and the surrounding area are invited to come along to cheer them on and share in the excitement.

On Saturday 2 September 2017, anyone interested can see the Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences’ submarine ‘Rivershark II’ up close and in action: Students from the Faculty of Technology and Bionics will launch the submarine – which they designed and built themselves – into the university’s own Spoy Canal and compete against two other submarine teams from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.

Visitors to the Kleve campus can also find out all about the construction of the bionic submarine and take a look inside the bionics hall, where the students on the submarine team have been fine-tuning their vessel’s many special features.

The race will be just as exciting for the crew as it is for spectators: after all, it offers the Kleve team a chance for a bit of a rematch, having recently been narrowly beaten by the Dutch team at the major submarine race in Washington, USA. In the days leading up to the event, the three teams will meet near Goch to discuss technical matters and try out new ideas.

The submarine race on the Spoy Canal begins on

Saturday, 2 September 2017, at 2.00 pm on the Kleve campus,
