As the programme focuses on methods, applications and models in economics, finance and the analysis of international financial markets, students are particularly well-prepared for careers in the following areas:

By imparting sound methodological knowledge and training students in the ability to transfer acquired specialist and methodological knowledge to related fields, students are opened up to a broad range of future career opportunities that extend beyond the fields mentioned above. Furthermore, the Degree programme paves the way for applied research or a PhD.

Semesters 1–2: Fundamentals of Economics and Finance, Skills Development, Advanced Specialisation

• Fundamentals of Economics and Finance: You will acquire a solid foundation in economic and financial contexts and learn to understand complex markets and economic processes.
• Skills development: The focus is on practical quantitative methods, analytical thinking and academic research. You will learn to analyse problems systematically and make well-founded decisions.
• Advanced specialisation: From the second semester onwards, you will choose your areas of specialisation and develop them further. Practical projects and your Master's thesis will round off your profile

3rd semester: Master's thesis & Colloquium

• Independent academic or practice-oriented research on a relevant topic of your choice

To be eligible for admission, you will need a first degree (Bachelor’s) in Economics, Finance or a related subject. Ideally, you will already have a basic knowledge of statistics, econometrics or mathematics, which will prepare you well for the analytical content of the Master’s programme. As well as a suitable bachelor’s degree, you should bring curiosity, analytical thinking and a passion for numbers. An interest in global financial markets, the ability to work independently and teamwork skills will help you understand the content in a practical way and learn successfully in an international environment.

As a consecutive master’s degree programme, the Degree programme builds on the foundations of a Bachelor’s degree in economics and is designed to broaden and deepen students’ knowledge, with a specialisation in the fields of economics and finance.

The degree programme teaches the latest methods, applications and models in economics, finance and the analysis of international financial markets.

The research methodology taught and independently applied by students includes game-theoretic experiments, behavioural economic analyses and empirical market analyses. The programme covers not only financial aspects but also macroeconomic phenomena. This enables you to establish links between economic theories and decision-making processes. For example, you will examine factors that influence competition between firms in financial and goods markets. The curriculum also highlights the complex relationships between governments, businesses and consumers, whilst maintaining a values-based and ethical approach.

Upon completion of the Degree programme, you will be able to effectively assess economic issues at both national and international levels. As this is a Degree programme taught entirely in English, you will also acquire business-level English proficiency, including relevant specialist terminology, through all course modules.

To be eligible for our programme, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in economics, business studies, business mathematics, industrial engineering, business informatics or business psychology.

A further requirement for our degree programme is valid proof of English language proficiency at level B2 in accordance with the CEFR. All international applicants must provide us with an English language certificate, such as TOEFL or IELTS, even if they have previously studied in English. The language certificate must be valid at the time of application (i.e. no more than two years old). A simple statement in the form of a letter will not be accepted. Don’t worry! Once your enrolment has been successfully completed, we’ll work with you to draw up a personalised plan to help you make up the missing 30 ECTS credits. This can be done, for example, by taking bachelor’s modules or by having your work experience recognised.

• the final processing of your recognised academic achievements and Examinations
• organising your exam registrations via HISinONE
• Certificates of achievement, diplomas, final grade certificates and the certification of the aforementioned documents
• applying for approval to undertake your Bachelor’s or Master's thesis
• applying for your work placement or semester abroad
• the acceptance of your final thesis and its forwarding to the Examiners
• Issuing duplicate copies of your certificates and diplomas
