Student advice and support
The Student Advisory Service at the Faculty of Society and Economics is here to help you with any questions you may have regarding the organisation of your studies, your academic progression, and the subject focus of your degree programme.
Below you will find information on Study Guidance, subject-specific academic advice, academic writing, the faculty’s trust professors, and the faculty’s equality officer.
At the Faculty of Society and Economics, Study Guidance is provided by the Study Guide. This service is available to all students enrolled at the faculty. The Study Guide acts as the first point of contact for any questions, concerns or problems relating to your studies.
Study Guide carries out the following tasks:
- Advising students on key stages of their studies (e.g. first semester, choosing compulsory elective modules, final dissertations)
- Advice on general issues relating to the course of study
- Support in planning an individual study path for social, organisational or academic reasons
- Actively approaching students who are significantly deviating from the standard course of study
- Information sessions and workshops for different stages of study
If necessary, the Study Guide will help you find the right contact person at the university or refer you to external specialist advisory services.

Examinations and administration
Below you will find all the key information regarding examinations and administration. This includes details of the Examination Board of the Faculty of Society and Economics, the responsibilities of the faculty administration, as well as forms and contact details for organisational matters.
The Examination Board of the Faculty of Society and Economics at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences (HSRW) plays a central role in organising and overseeing examination matters. Its responsibilities include ensuring compliance with Examination regulations, recognising academic achievements, organising work placements and Semesters abroad, and supervising final theses. It is also responsible for arranging access to examination papers and handling appeals against examination decisions.
The Faculty Administration is the faculty’s organisational and administrative unit. It supports the faculty management, as well as staff and students, with all administrative tasks.
The Faculty Administration's opening hours are Monday to Thursday from 09:30 to 12:30 and additionally on Wednesdays from 13:00 to 15:00.
