Whether you’re planning to spend a semester studying abroad or coming to our faculty as an exchange student, this page contains all the essential information for outgoing and incoming students.

English-taught degree programmes and an international atmosphere

The Faculty of Society and Economics offers five Bachelor’s and two Master’s degree programmes taught entirely in English. The international nature of these degree programmes creates a unique global atmosphere. German and international students study side by side, whilst benefiting directly from the diverse experiences of their fellow students. English is not only the predominant language of instruction; students also speak English to one another quite naturally in their everyday lives.

Study abroad opportunities and mobility windows

The mobility window in each Bachelor’s degree programme also allows for a Semester abroad or an Internship. In the International Business and Management degree programme, a Semester abroad is compulsory. With numerous European Erasmus partnerships and non-European partner universities, there are over 30 countries to choose from. Furthermore, international relations are constantly being expanded. The faculty is the most internationally mobile at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. This applies both to the number of students who spend a semester abroad and to the number of exchange students welcomed here.

For exchange students, there is also a special module providing an introduction to German politics, society and the economic system. Furthermore, a buddy programme helps students to quickly feel at home at the faculty and in Kleve.

Semester abroad

Strengthening international partnerships

Initially, the focus was on establishing international partnerships. The faculty is now concentrating on strengthening these partnerships. This includes:

  • Double-degree programmes
  • cross-border student projects
  • exchange of lecturers

The following double-degree programmes are available:

  • For the Bachelor’s degree programme in International Business and Management with the Spanish Universidad Católica de Valencia “San Vicente Mártir”. This enables our students to obtain two Bachelor’s degrees after 8 semesters (6 in Kleve and 2 in Valencia).
(Further information is available on the programme page)
  • For the Bachelor’s degree programme in International Relations with the German-Kazakh University (DKU) in Almaty, DKU students can also obtain their degree at HSRW. HSRW students can take part in short-term programmes at the DKU or spend a Semester abroad there

Thanks to its convenient location on the Dutch border, students can also take part in projects with Dutch universities. In this way, they gain new academic and intercultural experiences.
