As an interdisciplinary research centre, the CCAER is dedicated to applied economic research, primarily using statistical-econometric and experimental research methods. It brings together expertise from various disciplines to analyse a wide range of economically relevant issues and develop forward-looking solutions. The disciplines brought together at the CCAER include, amongst others:
- Economics: Analysis of macro- and microeconomic developments, economic policy and international economic relations.
- Business Administration: Focuses on corporate management, organisational development, accounting and innovation management.
- Business and Tax Law: Analysis of the legal framework governing business and, in particular, tax law, and its impact on the economy and society.
- Business Informatics: Research into the interface between technology and business, with a particular focus on digitalisation and data analysis.
- Social Sciences: Examination of social and political factors influencing economic developments.
- Psychology and behavioural sciences: Examination of human experience, thought and behaviour in an economic context.
Guided by the premise of promoting exchange between academia, business and politics, the CCAER conducts research on a wide range of topics that are of both academic and practical significance. Examples include:
- Sustainability of economic sectors and enterprises: Analysis of economic concepts to promote sustainable development and the transition to a climate-neutral economy, including in the field of mobility.
- Innovation and competitiveness: Research into the factors that strengthen the innovative capacity and international competitiveness of regional companies, e.g. in transport and logistics.
- Digital economy and artificial intelligence: Research into the economic opportunities and challenges presented by digital technologies and AI applications.
- Globalisation and trade: Examination of the impact of global value chains, free trade and geopolitical changes on the regional economy.
- Labour market and employment: Investigating labour market dynamics, the impact of digitalisation on jobs, and measures to promote employment.
- Financial markets and regulation: Analysis of financial systems, their stability, and the role of government regulation and central banks.
