Two students from the faculty impressed the jury of the Lower Rhine Regional Association of the VDI with their final-year projects and won prizes: Timon te Kempel, a student on the Mechatronic Systems Engineering programme, wrote his award-winning bachelor’s thesis on the topic ‘Development of a digital twin for determining and predicting the process dynamics of a P05III drum roaster’. Praanav Mahadev Menon studied Mechanical Engineering and impressed the jury with his bachelor’s thesis on ‘Using the U-Net Model for Steel Microstructure Identification and Analysis’.

Both students were honoured at the general meeting of the Lower Rhine branch of the VDI and were awarded a prize of 1,000 euros.
