The Lower Rhine Regional Association of the Association of German Engineers (VDI) has honoured three students from the Faculty for their outstanding achievements.
The prize for the best Bachelor’s thesis went to Ina-Jasmin Hill, a graduate of the Biomaterials Science programme, for her thesis on ‘Microstructural and Mechanical Characterisation of Biodegradable FeMn-based Alloys for Implant Applications’; she was nominated by Prof. Christopf Heß. Quang Nhat Nguyen Le was honoured for his Master’s thesis “Design and Development of IAOCR – an Intelligent Autonomous Omni-directional Climbing Robot” (nominated by Prof. Ronny Hartanto), with which he completed his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Taha Altikriti received an award for his outstanding commitment to his fellow students and as a member of the executive committee of the IEEE HSRW (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers); he was nominated by his fellow student Loredana Sturza.
The jury, comprising Prof. Bernhard Siemon from Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Hans-Jürgen Helwig from Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences and Prof. Joachim Gebel from the HSRW, presented the awards at the end of last year during a virtual ceremony.
