In light of the current situation in Ukraine, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences is showing its solidarity. In a statement, Dr Oliver Locker-Grütjen expresses his sympathy.
In light of the current situation in Ukraine, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences stands in solidarity. In a statement, Dr Oliver Locker-Grütjen expresses his sympathy: “We are deeply concerned about the latest developments in Eastern Europe. We stand in solidarity with our students and staff whose families, friends and acquaintances are affected. Our thoughts and concerns are also with our partner universities in the country,” said the President.
There are currently 34 students from Ukraine and 84 students from Russia enrolled at the university. The university’s General Students’ Committee (AStA) is offering counselling services to those affected.
There are currently no students in Ukraine as part of an exchange programme. The Faculty of Life Sciences has been cooperating with the State Biotechnological University in Kharkiv since 2016 as part of the DAAD Eastern Partnership Programme. Colleagues there have been reporting on the shelling of the city since the early hours of 24 February 2022.
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK) and many other German universities have also expressed their solidarity with Ukraine.
