The Graduates’ Prize, worth 1,000 euros, was awarded for outstanding academic achievement on the Master’s programme in Health Sciences and Management.

As part of the Faculty of Life Sciences’ graduation ceremony, the prize – worth 1,000 euros – was once again awarded this year to a student on the Master’s programme in Health Sciences and Management. The award recognises a particularly outstanding Master’s thesis characterised by academic excellence, social relevance and practical application.
This year’s prize went to Lena Bongers, M.Sc., for her thesis entitled: ‘Health literacy as an individual resource for health behaviour and stress experiences among healthcare professionals in Germany, with recommendations for action’. The thesis impressed the jury with its sound methodology, innovative approach and high relevance to the healthcare sector.
“With this prize, we aim to highlight outstanding academic achievements in the fields of public health and health management and to motivate young academics to actively contribute to the further development of the healthcare system,” emphasised Dr Wimmer from the Lower Rhine Business Association at the award ceremony. The award-winning thesis addresses the hitherto little-researched topic of health literacy among healthcare professionals and provides important insights for both practice and research.
The Graduate Award is presented annually by the Friends of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences and the Lower Rhine Business Association, and is intended to support particularly committed students whose final-year dissertations make a tangible contribution to addressing current challenges in the healthcare sector.
