During a festive ceremony, Bachelor’s and Master’s graduates from Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences were bid farewell for the second time this year. Dressed in traditional academic gowns and with a programme of celebratory events, 106 former students from the Faculties of Society and Economics, Technology and Bionics, and Life Sciences received their degrees in the Audimax on the Kleve campus.
Professor Dr Marion Halfmann – Vice-President for Studies, Teaching and Continuing Education – congratulated the young graduates on their achievements and encouraged them as they embark on the next stage of their lives: “As students at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, you have studied in an international environment and been in constant exchange and contact with different cultures. Thanks to this experience, you are ideally prepared for the international world of work.”
The Friends’ Association of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, together with the Lower Rhine Business Association, presented awards for outstanding achievements. Caroline Derksen (Master’s programme in Mechanical Engineering) from the Faculty of Technology and Bionics was honoured by the Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences Friends’ Association e. V. with a prize of 1,000 euros. The Lower Rhine Business Association (Unternehmerschaft Niederrhein e. V.) recognised the achievements of Master’s graduate Monique Schröder (Master’s programme in Health Sciences and Management) from the Faculty of Life Sciences with a prize worth 1,000 euros. Both prize-winners have distinguished themselves through outstanding academic achievement and their additional social or cultural commitment.
“We would like to express our special thanks to the prize sponsors, whose contribution this year has once again promoted student engagement and supported the university’s successful development,” said Vice-President Halfmann.
The joint graduation ceremony for the Faculties of Technology and Bionics and Life Sciences was hosted by Professor Dr William Megill, Professor of Bionics specialising in sensor technology and robotics, together with Professor Dr Peter Simon, Professor of Organic Chemistry/Polymer Chemistry. At the Faculty of Society and Economics, Dean Professor Dr Jakob Lempp presided over the proceedings.
