Programme structure and content
Graduates have a wide range of career opportunities open to them. Depending on their specialisation, there are various job profiles:
- Development (planning, calculation, design and testing of technical installations and systems; design, simulation and testing of electronic circuits)
- Production (planning, manufacturing, operation and monitoring of technical and process engineering plant, systems and electronic products; Examination of products and processes; quality assurance)
- Management roles in industry, private-sector companies and public authorities
- Technical sales, balancing customer requirements and company interests
- Management of large, technically and organisationally complex projects
- Work in management consultancy
Find out what suits you best: The degree programme begins with an orientation semester, which gives you the opportunity to discover your strengths and interests. After that, you can choose specialisations that suit you and your goals. Your mentor will provide you with excellent guidance throughout this process.
Become an expert: From the second semester onwards, you’ll choose your areas of specialisation: Electronics, Robotics, Information and Computer Technology, Sustainable Product Development, Business Operations, Entrepreneurship and Leadership, or a combination of technical and business-related subjects. Our flexible Mode of Study allows you to tailor your specialisations to suit your individual needs.
Final stretch: In the sixth semester, you’ll either undertake an internship at a suitable company or spend a semester abroad at one of the university’s partner institutions. In the seventh semester, you’ll write your Bachelor’s thesis and complete your degree with the Colloquium.
Not only can you, but you’re actually expected to: in the sixth semester of your degree, an Internship or a year abroad is compulsory. With our support, you can either find an internship placement at a suitable company or broaden your academic horizons by spending a semester at one of our partner universities.
On our campus and during your degree, you’ll meet lots of people from all over the world. The language we all share – and the language of your degree programme – is English. Even if you don’t feel confident with another language at first, you’ll find that you’ll quickly get the hang of it and English will become your everyday language. You’ll pick up the specialist terminology as part of your studies anyway.
By the end of your degree, you’ll not only be really good at technical English but also at everyday English. This means you’ll be ideally equipped for jobs in international teams all over the world.

Application process
This degree programme has open admission, which means you will automatically be admitted once you have submitted your online application. Your Letter of Admission and all the important information regarding Enrolment will be available to you on Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences Application portal.
You only accept your place on the course once you have officially completed enrolment following your admission. As soon as you have been successfully enrolled, you will be notified by email.
Did you complete your school-leaving qualifications outside of Germany? If so, you’ll need to apply via uni-assist. The platform will guide you step by step through the application process. Your documents will then be checked by uni-assist and, provided you meet the admission requirements, forwarded to Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences for a final decision and the issuance of a decision letter. You will then be informed by email.

General Services
Student Services can help you with:
- your application, as well as the admission and selection processes for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes
- enrolment and withdrawal (enrolment and deregistration)
- re-enrolment, taking a leave of absence or exemption from mobility requirements
- matters relating to guest student status, secondary student status or studying as a young person
- changing degree programmes or joining a programme at a higher semester
- the issuing of official documents, such as certificates of enrolment
- any queries regarding semester fees and payments
- Notifications to health insurance providers in accordance with statutory requirements
In the 6th semester of the degree programme, you will either undertake a work placement or study at a partner university abroad.
