Student advice and support
The Student Advisory Service at the Faculty of Society and Economics is here to help you with any questions you may have about organising your studies, your academic progression, and the subject focus of your degree programme.
Here you will find information on Study Guidance, subject-specific academic advice, academic writing, the faculty’s liaison professors, and the faculty’s equality officer.
At the Faculty of Society and Economics, Study Guidance is provided by the Study Guide. This service is available to all students enrolled at the faculty. The Study Guide acts as the first point of contact for any questions, concerns or problems relating to your studies.
Study Guide carries out the following tasks:
- Advising students on key stages of their studies (e.g. first semester, choosing compulsory elective modules, final dissertations)
- Advice on general issues relating to the course of study
- Support with planning an individual study path for social, organisational or subject-related reasons
- Actively approaching students who are significantly deviating from the standard course of study
- Information sessions and workshops for different stages of study
If necessary, the Study Guide will help students find the right contact person at the university or refer them to external specialist advisory services.

Examinations and administration

This includes details of the Examination Board of the Faculty of Society and Economics, the responsibilities of the faculty administration, as well as forms and contact details for organisational matters.
The Examination Board of the Faculty of Society and Economics at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences (HSRW) plays a central role in organising and overseeing examination matters. Its responsibilities include ensuring compliance with examination regulations, recognising academic achievements, organising work placements and Semesters abroad, and supervising final theses. It is also responsible for arranging access to examination papers and handling appeals against examination decisions.
The Faculty Administration is the faculty’s organisational and administrative unit. It supports the faculty management, as well as staff and students, with all administrative tasks.
The Faculty Administration's opening hours are Monday to Thursday from 09:30 to 12:30 and additionally on Wednesdays from 13:00 to 15:00.
Below are the various areas of responsibility of the staff in the Faculty Administration:
Angelina Berisha
- Human resources management and leadership (including overseeing the recruitment process, managing and supporting staff, and providing support for HR strategy and staff development)
- Finance and Controlling (including planning the faculty budget, managing the faculty accounts, report preparation, and producing ad hoc analyses)
- Strategic planning and development (including involvement in the development and implementation of the faculty’s strategic objectives)
- Study and Teaching (including support with course organisation and accreditation procedures)
- Quality and Process Management (including analysis and optimisation of internal IT and business processes)
Julia Coopmans
- Scheduling and committee administration: Coordinating faculty and dean’s meetings, as well as managing committee matters.
- Event organisation: Planning and coordination of internal faculty events and office relocations.
- HR support: Onboarding new staff and supporting staff returning from parental leave
- Administration and materials management: overseeing the dQVM, assisting with excursions, supporting the G&Ö student council, ordering office supplies and issuing loan materials.
Jens Gollenia
- Study, Teaching and Accreditation: Responsible for drawing up the teaching schedule, including organising room bookings, and supporting accreditation processes.
- Support for Sessional Lecturers and preparation of teaching contracts
- Administration and materials management: Purchasing and procurement within the faculty; issuing of loan materials
Mariette Dückers
- Supporting Sessional Lecturers and drawing up teaching contracts
- Recruitment and coordination of student assistants and research assistants
- Administration and materials management: processing guest lectures, ordering literature and issuing out-of-library materials, organising room bookings for tutorials
