As part of the Children’s University at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, the next lecture in the 2019/2020 winter term will focus on the theme ‘Experience. Discover. Explore’ – the 2020 State Garden Show.
The Green Classroom at the 2020 Kamp-Lintfort State Garden Show introduces children to, amongst other things, topical and exciting issues relating to environmental protection, climate change and species conservation. How do we treat our environment, and what exactly is this ‘climate’ that everyone is talking about now? Why are we ‘rich’ in Germany? And why are other countries, for example in Africa, so desperately poor? The fascinating sessions in the Green Classroom focus on new knowledge, sustainability, fairness and justice. Irina Osthoff, project coordinator for the Kamp-Lintfort 2020 State Garden Show, will be discussing these topics and bringing the Green Classroom to the Children’s University.
The event will take place on 18 December 2019 from 5.15 pm to 6.00 pm at the Kleve campus of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, 47533 Kleve, in the Lecture Theatre Centre, Building 01, Audimax. Admission is free and no registration is required.
The Children’s University
Through the Children’s University, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences offers children aged between eight and twelve the opportunity to develop a passion for the world of science through lectures (45 minutes) specially designed for them. Just like proper students, they are given student ID cards. They sit in lecture theatres and can ask experts all sorts of questions. The main difference from a proper degree course is that there are no exams to sit.
Come and join in!
Children keen to study at the Children’s University can attend either all the lectures or just a few. The Children’s University’s course catalogue can be viewed on the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences website at www.hochschule-rhein-waal.de/de/veranstaltungen/kinder-uni-0. No registration is required for the lectures. Admission is free.
