The Swan Knights set sail once more (Press release)

On 9 June 2018, the popular Schwanenritter Race will take place for the sixth time. Twelve teams will once again be challenged to build their own boats using the materials provided and then compete in a race on the Spoy Canal. The registration form is now available online.

From now on, interested teams – consisting of four people – can register for the race via the registration tool at

In keeping with the Kleve legend of the Swan Knight, every boat must have a swan and a Swan Knight on board, though there are no limits to creativity. From 12:00, all teams will have two hours to build their boat using the identical materials provided. As in previous years, only a bionic propulsion system – i.e. no motor – is permitted. This may be prepared in advance. The finished boats will be launched at the turning basin in front of the canteen, where the race will start at 2.00 pm. The prize-giving ceremony will take place at approximately 2.45 pm. Detailed terms and conditions of entry and general information about the race can be found at

The event forms part of the Open Day at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences. From 11.00 to 16.00, lecturers, staff and students invite anyone interested to take a look behind the scenes at the university and get a taste of campus life. Further information is available at:
