Training camp for the "Rivershark"
Instead of the murky Spoy Canal or the cold lakes of the Lower Rhine, the Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences’ submarine recently set sail for the Mediterranean: the submarine team from the Faculty of Technology and Bionics travelled there with Prof. William Megill to assess what improvements were needed for the next race. In July, the student team will compete against their rivals in England, and by then the “Rivershark” – which was built last year – is set to shine once more, both inside and out. After all, this time it’s not just about speed, but also manoeuvrability, as the race involves a slalom course. The engineers and bionics specialists are currently working flat out to get the ‘Rivershark’ in top shape for the race. At the same time, a new submarine is already in the pipeline; it’s set to compete in races next year. But for now, it’s time to keep our fingers crossed for the race in England!
