The 2019 Wednesday Academy kicks off its second round

The series kicks off with the lecture ‘The Future of Villages: Sustainable Participation of Children and Young People’ on 9 October 2019 at 6.00 pm on the Kleve campus.

Under the theme ‘From regional to global – the economy and society in the current climate’, the Wednesday Academy programme explores fascinating topics and places them within a multifaceted context. Contemporary issues are presented clearly by speakers from academia and the professional world, examined from a theoretical perspective and discussed in a large group setting.

The second part of the lecture series begins in October. It will be launched by Professor Dr Heike Helen Weinbach, Professor of Education specialising in early childhood didactics, and Dr Hilde Wierda-Boer, Senior Researcher at the Kenniscentrum Publieke Zaak at the Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen (HAN), with the lecture ‘The Future of Villages: Sustainable Participation of Children and Young People’. This is based on a three-year study of twelve small villages near the border in the Netherlands and Germany, conducted by researchers and students from Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences and HAN as part of the INTERREG VA project ‘Family Community’. The lecture, which will be delivered in German and Dutch, will present the practical outcomes, the online handbook and the theoretical and empirical findings from the project.

The lecture will take place on 9 October 2019 at 6.00 pm on the Kleve Campus, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, in Building 2, Room 02 01 017 (Seminar Room 5).
