The “Locals4Students” mentoring programme is running again this summer term. In the past, many local residents have taken on the role of mentors, helping numerous students settle into their studies. We are once again looking for mentors, or ‘Locals’ (as they are known in English), who would like to help students feel at home in their new surroundings.
It is mainly students from abroad who look forward to this form of support, as language is usually not the only problem they face. Cultural differences can also present a challenge for them.
However, it is entirely up to the mentors themselves to decide what they can and are willing to do in their role as advisers. Both the students and the university are grateful for any kind of support.
To give everyone the chance to get to know one another and exchange ideas, an information session will take place on 25 May 2018 at 5.30 pm on the Kleve campus of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, on the roof terrace of the canteen (in the canteen itself in the event of bad weather), Building 16. Admission is free. Registrations can be made via the email address locals4students@hochschule-rhein-waal.de. Refreshments will, of course, be provided.
