This year’s speed-dating event was once again in high demand. Every 10 minutes, 20 companies had the opportunity to meet students to arrange internships, work placements and final-year projects. A total of 240 time slots were available for this purpose.
Once again, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences organised a ‘speed dating’ event, a format designed to help participating companies find potential young talent from the region. At this event, students can introduce themselves to as many interesting companies as possible in a very short space of time, whilst companies have the opportunity to showcase their offers of potential work placements, practical semesters or final-year projects.
This year, at the Kleve campus, students and company representatives got to know one another through nearly 240 one-to-one discussions. “Companies in the Lower Rhine region are desperately seeking well-trained specialists. Through speed dating, we – as the Association for the Promotion of the Regional Economy – support our member companies in getting to know students whilst they are still studying,” notes Stefan Finke, Managing Director of the Association for the Promotion of the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences e.V. Marion Kraft from the Career Service, as a co-organiser, sees the event as an ideal opportunity for students to get to know regional companies and expand their network through direct interaction.
For Remco Spooren, Deputy HR Manager at MSK Verpackungs-Systeme GmbH in Kleve, the regional proximity to the students is a key factor. “What’s more, the 10-minute time slots are ideal for getting to know the next generation of talent. We’ve had many interesting conversations and believe speed dating is a good platform for presenting ourselves as a regional employer,” says Spooren with conviction.
ALDI GmbH & Co. KG – Rheinberg was once again on the Kleve campus to meet students. “Alongside the Germany Scholarship, speed dating is an interesting way for our company to gain a first impression of the students,” emphasises Vera Osabutey, team leader in the HR department. “Our aim is to attract young managers from the Lower Rhine region to our regional company in Rheinberg. That is why we are keen to be active in the Friends of the University association at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences and on site at the speed-dating event.”
Drews Electronic GmbH from Kamp-Lintfort took part for the first time. “Our first speed-dating event with Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences was not only fast-paced but also exciting – just as a date should be. A brilliant event that brings together young, motivated students and regional companies,” says Tim Ockert, shareholder and member of the management team, clearly impressed.
