Studium Generale: New lecture on 26 November 2019

The series of events continues on 26 November 2019 at 7 pm with the talk ‘Healthy ageing – from head to toe: insights from neuroscience and sport’.

Our gut feeling tells us that not all ageing is the same. We may also feel physically older than we are, yet mentally much younger. It is therefore a legitimate question to ask: ‘How old am I, and how many ages do I actually have?’ The speakers will explain what we mean by age and ageing, what changes occur in the body – and, above all, in the brain – and which lifestyle factors can influence the ageing process. At the end, they will demonstrate exercises that can help you stay mentally fit even in old age. Participants are invited to join in.

The event will take place on the Kleve campus of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, Lecture Theatre Centre, ground floor, Room 01 EG 010 (Audimax).

The lecture forms part of the Studium Generale programme and has been designed to make academic research accessible through talks that are easy for everyone to understand. The lecture programme is aimed at the general public, students, school pupils and anyone in the region with an interest in science, as well as professors and staff at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, with a focus on general, universal education. The lecture series also offers a platform for lively exchange and discussion on current issues.

Attendance at the Studium Generale lectures at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences is free of charge and no prior registration is required. Further information on the Studium Generale is available online at www.hochschule-rhein-waal.de/studium-generale.
