This year’s Studium Generale is dedicated to the multifaceted theme of ‘Energy’. With their talk ‘Spirituality as Energy’, the speakers Dr Peter Hahnen, Director of the Kloster Kamp Spiritual and Cultural Centre in Kamp-Lintfort, and Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Rolf Rheinschmidt, a research assistant at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences and a Tai Chi instructor, will continue the series of events on 23 January 2018 at 7.00 pm.
Among other things, the talk will explore the human imagination and belief from a scientific perspective. The discussion of placebo and nocebo effects will lead on to the use of ‘Yi’ – the power of the imagination – in Tai Chi, and how this shapes our perception of things and our world view.
The event will take place at the Kleve campus of the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, Lecture Theatre Centre, ground floor, Room 01 EG 005 (Lecture Theatre 1).
The lecture is part of the Studium Generale programme and has been designed to make science accessible through lectures that are easy for everyone to understand. The lecture programme is aimed at members of the public, students, school pupils and anyone in the region with an interest in science, as well as lecturers and staff at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, with a focus on general, universal education. The lecture series also provides a platform for lively exchange and discussion on current issues.
