The talk examines the geographical and political convergence of Kellen and Kleve. The focus is on the architectural changes that have taken place since around 2000. The speaker is Rainer Hoymann, an employee of Volksbank Kleverland eG and a member of the Kleve Association for Culture and History.
A historical overview dating back to the High Middle Ages examines the different structures of these areas. Naturally, the lecture will also address the attempts by the town of Kleve to incorporate these areas, which met with resistance in ‘wealthy’ Kellen. The lecture will take place on 22 November 2017 at 6.00 pm on the Kleve campus in Building 02, Room 01 017 (Seminar Room 5).
On 25 April 2017, the town of Kleve will celebrate its 775th anniversary. This event forms part of a year of celebrations in which the Faculty of Society and Economics at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences is taking part. This year’s programme for the Wednesday Academy therefore combines current developments in the town with lectures on its history.
Alongside academics from the faculty, external speakers have been invited to deliver and discuss themed lectures on the Lower Rhine town. Theory and practice are brought together.
The open, free lectures in this series are aimed at the general public, as well as at students, lecturers and staff at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences.
