Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, the Friends of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences – Cleve Campus e.V. and Sparkasse Rhein-Maas are committed to supporting students through financial assistance.
The Germany Scholarship enables Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences to support students who achieve excellent academic results and also demonstrate a high level of academic or social commitment. This support is of great importance for academic success, as it enables scholarship recipients to concentrate fully on their studies. For one year, they receive 300 euros per month. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research covers half of this amount; the university secures the other half from private sponsors. The number of these sponsors is growing steadily. Among others, the university receives active support from the Friends of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences – Campus Cleve e.V.
This year, too, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences will once again be able to award the Germany Scholarship. Sparkasse Rhein-Maas is contributing 9,000 euros. “It is particularly important to us to support students at our local university,” explains Wilfried Röth, a member of the board of Sparkasse Rhein-Maas. The Friends of Campus Cleve e.V. have also – in a spontaneous gesture during the press conference – made 9,000 euros available for five scholarships.
In addition, the Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences’ Covid-19 relief fund offers further financial support to students. Set up in collaboration with the Förderverein Campus Cleve e.V. and the General Students’ Committee (AStA), the fund is intended to help students at the university who have found themselves in financial difficulty due to the coronavirus pandemic. Through the AStA, they can apply for non-repayable grants towards living costs in the form of a one-off payment of 250 euros, without any red tape.
“Providing financial support to our students is a matter of great importance to us, and not just through the Deutschlandstipendium scheme. Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, many students are facing a major financial challenge, which we want to overcome together,” said University President Dr Oliver Locker-Grütjen. Hans-Josef Kuypers, Managing Director of the Förderverein Campus Cleve e.V., added: “We are delighted that we have already received a large number of donations and have thus been able to help a number of students.”
