On 26 March 2017, 300 guests were treated to good food and an interesting exchange at the first charity evening, “HOCH(schul)GENUSS’ at the Parkhotel Welling, where they enjoyed good food and engaging conversation. The donations for the projects have now been officially handed over to the Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences.
“I am delighted by the tremendous commitment shown by the Welling family and the Lions Clubs in Moers, Kamp-Lintfort/Rheinberg and Neukirchen-Vluyn, and by the donations to Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, which will enable us to support many projects,” said University President Dr Heide Naderer, expressing her gratitude to the sponsors present.
Hotel owner Elmar Welling, Thomas Schulz, President of the Moers Lions Club, Dr Frank Müller, President of the Kamp-Lintfort/Rheinberg Lions Club, and Dr Georg Berns, Vice-President of the Neukirchen-Vluyn Lions Club, also gave a positive assessment of the successful event. “Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, with its two campuses in Kleve and Kamp-Lintfort, is a real asset to the economic development of our region,” said Thomas Schulz. “In particular, the links between the two campuses and the university’s commitment – for example, in the planning for the 2020 State Garden Show in Kamp-Lintfort and other regional projects that we wish to support in the long term – are the reason for our commitment to Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences,” added Dr Frank Müller.
Special thanks go to the Welling family. The charity evening at the Parkhotel Niederrhein provided a great opportunity to combine support for Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences with a fine meal and to expand one’s personal network in a lovely setting. With the proceeds from ticket sales and further donations from visitors, a total of 20,000 euros was raised during the charity evening, which will now be used to fund projects at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences. “The focus is on regional and inter-faculty projects, which are also intended to link the two campuses in Kleve and Kamp-Lintfort even more closely,” explains Dr Heide Naderer.
