In the 2020/21 winter semester, the Studium Generale at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences is offering digital courses on a variety of topics for the first time. The topic of the next event is ‘Soil – our foundation in times of climate change’.
The soil beneath our feet is valuable. It can store greenhouse gases and help to mitigate climate change. However, soil is also important for adapting to climate change. This means that all users of soil can play a part in tackling climate change. Prof. Florian Wichern, a soil scientist at the Faculty of Life Sciences at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, and Christian Bomblat, climate protection manager for the City of Kleve, will give a talk on the topic ‘Soil – our foundation in times of climate change’ and highlight the global and local interconnections of this issue.
The event will take place on 4 November 2020 at 5.00 pm via Webex Events.
The lecture forms part of the Studium Generale programme, which was designed to make science accessible through lectures that are easy for everyone to understand. The lecture programme is aimed at all citizens, students, school pupils and those interested in science in the region, as well as lecturers and staff at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, with a focus on general, universal education. The lecture series also offers a platform for lively discussion on current issues.
Attendance at the Studium Generale lectures at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences is free of charge and no prior registration is required.
