On 16 November 2016, the Children’s University at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences will kick off its next series with a visit from the children’s author KNISTER. Admission is free. The event begins at 5.15 pm in the Audimax at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences in Kamp-Lintfort, Friedrich-Heinrich-Allee 25.
KNISTER, whose real name is Ludger Jochmann, is not only one of the most successful children’s authors, with over 26 million books sold worldwide in more than 40 languages, but he also has many other fascinating qualities that delight readers, listeners and viewers.
He has invented a sock-finding machine and brought the strange soft toy monster Yoko to life. The adventures of little ‘Hexe Lilli’ fill an entire series of books. And KNISTER has some news about Lilli for you! A week after the reading in Kamp-Lintfort, filming begins on the feature film ‘Lilli the Witch and the Christmas Miracle’. Lilli is tasked with uncovering the story of Knecht Ruprecht – and finds herself faced with tricky problems, which the little dragon Hektor had warned her about, to no avail. This children’s film follows on from its predecessors ‘Lilli the Witch – The Dragon and the Magic Book’ (2009) and ‘Lilli the Witch – The Journey to Mandolan’ (2011).
At the Children’s University, KNISTER will share first-hand accounts of his life and the creation of his books and films. Of course, he will also read excerpts from his stories to the Children’s University students.
The Children’s University
Through the Children’s University, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences offers children aged between eight and twelve the opportunity to develop a passion for the world of science through lectures (45 minutes) specially designed for them. Just like real students, they are given student ID cards. They sit in lecture theatres and can ask real professors all sorts of questions. The main difference from a proper degree course is that there are no exams to sit.
