Over the next three years, the secretariat of the Working Group for Peace and Conflict Research (AFK) will be based at the Faculty of Society and Economics at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences.
The President of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Dr Heide Naderer, and the Chair of the Working Group on Peace and Conflict Research (AFK), Prof. Dr Conrad Schetter, recently signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen their ongoing collaboration. For the next three years, the AFK’s secretariat will be based at the Faculty of Society and Economics at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, where a research assistant post will be created.
The AFK was founded in 1968 as a German academic association of peace and conflict researchers from all academic disciplines and currently has over 270 members. “This partnership reinforces the focus on peace and conflict research at the Faculty of Society and Economics and will enrich Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences through this transdisciplinary field of research, with joint conferences, lectures and publications,” explains the President of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Dr Heide Naderer.
Prof. Dr Eva Maria Hinterhuber, Professor of Sociology specialising in gender studies at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, oversees the AFK secretariat on site. There is great enthusiasm about the collaboration with this renowned academic association. “This is the first time the AFK secretariat has been established at a university of applied sciences – this also demonstrates the standing and trust that Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences has come to enjoy within the academic landscape in Germany,” says the Dean of the Faculty of Society and Economics, Prof. Dr Jakob Lempp, with delight.
