New trainees begin their vocational training at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences

With its range of courses, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences in Kleve and Kamp-Lintfort is not only an educational institution for students from over 100 different countries, but also trains young people in various professions.

For nine apprentices, their journey into working life began with an apprenticeship at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences: Felix Smola started his apprenticeship as a Technical Product Designer (IHK), specialising in mechanical and plant engineering, combined with a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Technology and Bionics. Lena-Marie Derksen is also completing her apprenticeship as a chemical laboratory assistant at the Faculty of Technology and Bionics. Lena Neumann began her professional career by starting her vocational training as an office management assistant at the Faculty of Society and Economics. “I chose to do my apprenticeship at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences because it offers such a wide range of opportunities. What I found particularly exciting was the chance to interact with international students. I’ve already learnt so much in the first few days of my apprenticeship. Whenever I have questions, all my colleagues are always willing to listen and try to help me. I’m sure I’ll be well prepared for working life once I’ve completed my apprenticeship,” says Lena Neumann happily. Tabea Küppers and Eskil Blank are delighted to be starting their careers in the Department of Information Technology. Both began their “IT Specialist for System Integration” apprenticeship on 1 August. Eskil Blank is combining this apprenticeship with the E-Government degree programme at the Faculty of Communication and Environment. Lars Potenberg started his apprenticeship as a Media and Information Services Assistant at the library. The Faculty of Communication and Environment in Kamp-Lintfort welcomed new trainee Julia de Goey as an IT specialist for system integration and new trainee Julius Michels as a trainee chemical laboratory technician. 

With the nine new apprentices starting in summer 2016, there are currently a total of eleven young people undertaking vocational training at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences.
