The 21-strong team from Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences took part in the Kleve City Cycling challenge with great success, clocking up a total of 2,643.3 kilometres.
From 26 June to 17 July 2016, businesses and residents in Kleve left their cars at home and cycled to support climate protection. Participants clocked up kilometres in the nationwide competition. The 21 cyclists from the university also took part in the STADTRADELN campaign as ‘Team Hochschule Rhein-Waal’. Over the past few weeks, lecturers, staff and students have been travelling mainly by bike, clocking up 2,643.3 kilometres as a team. “I was delighted that we have so many cycling enthusiasts and active cyclists amongst our university community,” says President Dr Heide Naderer. “Of course, I didn’t miss the chance to take an active part in STADTRADELN. At the next event, we’ll certainly be lining up with even more participants and making an even greater contribution to environmental protection and our own health.”
The aims of the STADTRADELN campaign are to raise awareness amongst citizens about cycling and to bring the issues of cycling and cycle infrastructure planning more strongly to the attention of local councils.
