The aim of the Ethics Day entitled ‘Social Responsibility – a Forgotten Matter of Course’, to be held on 7 November 2018 at the Kamp-Lintfort campus, is to raise awareness that the decisions we make today have a lasting impact on the future.
To explore these complex issues in greater depth, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences invites all interested parties to a day of discussion with experts. In a series of lectures, the speakers will address the challenges to business ethics posed by digital markets, sustainable banking, the promotion of regional value creation and cooperative economic models, as well as the threat to ethical principles in profit-driven medicine.
In addition, participants can look forward to a wide range of workshops and a case study competition for students and school pupils on the topic of ‘corporate social responsibility’. At an awards ceremony, the top three entries from among the proposals previously submitted will be selected. First place will receive 300 euros, second place 200 euros. The third-placed entrant will receive 100 euros. The conference will conclude with live music from the university band and a poetry slam. To mark Ethics Day, the poets will explore the question of the good life through the arts. Whether through political poetry or witty prose – with rhyming and spoken-word pieces – they will draw the audience out of their shells and face their judgemental applause. The competition will be hosted by Jay Nightwind, who has already made a name for himself as the organiser of the Weststadtstory in Essen, as a blogger and as one of the most important promoters of up-and-coming talent on the slam scene across Germany.
The 2nd Ethics Day will take place on 7 November 2018 from 1.00 pm on the Kamp-Lintfort campus of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Friedrich-Heinrich-Allee 25, 47475 Kamp-Lintfort, Building 01, ground floor, Audimax. Audience participation in the discussion is strongly encouraged. Attendance is free of charge and no registration is required.
The event was planned and organised by a team led by Professor Dr Klaus Hegemann, Professor of General Business Administration. The group, comprising seven students from the Bachelor’s programme in International Business Administration, had founded the ‘Rhein-Waal Studentische Unternehmensberatung e.V.’ in June this year. Bearing in mind the association’s aim of applying acquired knowledge in practice, the students developed the concept for the academic lecture series, devised the competition, planned the evening programme and took charge of the organisation.
