On 24 September 2018, the University Electoral Assembly unanimously voted to remove Dr Heide Naderer from office as President. Furthermore, the assembly asked the President to step down from her post.
On 24 September 2018, the University Electoral Assembly of Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences voted unanimously to remove Dr Heide Naderer from office as President in the Audimax on the Kleve campus. Furthermore, with one dissenting vote, the assembly asked the President to step down from her post. The reason for her removal was the sustained breakdown in trust between Dr Naderer and the university’s decision-making bodies. The request that she refrain from continuing in office is based on Section 20(4) of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The cancellation of the university electoral assembly on 29 August 2018 resulted from the announcement of her resignation at short notice, which initially necessitated an examination of the legal consequences and discussions regarding them.
The University Electoral Assembly considered the University Council’s motion for her removal from office, even though Dr Naderer had announced her resignation on 28 August 2018. Removal from office also terminates the President’s fixed-term civil service appointment.
The Vice-President, Professor Dr Georg Hauck, will initially continue to carry out the President’s duties on an interim basis. The election of a successor will take place in due course in accordance with the provisions of the Higher Education Act and the University’s Constitution.
