In his lecture ‘Europe on the Eve of the Election – Issues, Candidates and Prospects for the 2019 European Elections’, Professor Jakob Lempp begins by shedding light on the complex procedures involved in this election and discusses the various candidates and political programmes on offer.
Never before has it been of such historic significance as it is this year. A fundamental decision lies ahead: should the European Union continue to grow closer together, or will the European Parliament elections in May 2019 mark the beginning of the end for the EU? In his lecture ‘Europe on the Eve of the Election – Issues, Candidates and Perspectives on the 2019 European Elections’, Professor Jakob Lempp, Professor of Political Science specialising in International Relations, will first shed light on the complex procedures involved in this election and then discuss the candidates and the policy alternatives on offer.
The lecture will take place on 8 May 2019 at 6.00 pm on the Kleve Campus, Marie-Curie-Straße 1, in Building 02, Room 02 01 017 (Seminar Room 5).
As part of the Wednesday Academy, current topics are presented clearly by speakers from academia and professional practice, examined from a theoretical perspective and discussed in a large group. The lecture series is aimed primarily at the general public, but also at students and teaching staff at the university. Attendance is free of charge and no prior registration is required.
